What do I need to work in the U.S.?
At a minimum you need a work visa, a valid passport, an I-94, a Social Security number and ties to your home country.

Which visa am I eligible for?
That depends on your education status, your skills and your personal international work goals. To discuss eligibility please contact MTL.

Am I eligible to work in the U.S.?
Eligibility requirements are determined by the visa under which you are working.
J-1 visa: You must be a post-secondary student currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree or a full-time course of study at an accredited educational institution.
H-2B visa: You must have a job offer from a U.S. employer and show intent to return to your home country.

How long will I be able to work in the U.S.?
The length of your work stay in the U.S. depends on which visa you are working under.
J-1 visa: Up to 4 months
J-1 paid internship: Up to 18 months
H-2B visa: Up to 10 months (determined by the U.S. Department of Labor)

How do I begin the visa process?
Contact MTL and we will assist you in beginning the process of collecting the necessary documentation to acquire the most appropriate visa for your needs. MTL does not issue visas and cannot guarantee that you will be issued a visa. The responsibility of issuing a visa lies with the U.S. embassies abroad and in your home country.

Where can I work?
MTL works with numerous U.S. companies. When you contact MTL, we will review your skills and with your input, match you to the most appropriate employer.

Will MTL help me get to the U.S?
Although MTL does not directly secure housing and international travel for workers, we are available for coordination and support. We will help you get started, help you get here and help you get settled.
